Increase user mobility

Access-layer networks of the past are not designed for today's distributed enterprises. Traditionally, network designs have focused on individual ports and physical locations rather than how users and devices can connect to the network.

PowerConnect W-AP93H APs enable users to securely access the enterprise network with a consistent "always-on” experience. Uniform security and access control policies are applied to users in headquarters, branch offices, home offices or on the road, allowing them to securely connect.

The multifunction W-AP93H can be configured through the Mobility Controller to provide WLAN access with part-time air monitoring as well as dedicated air monitoring for wireless intrusion prevention system (IPS) and spectrum analysis, Remote AP (RAP) functionality or secure enterprise mesh. The W-AP93H features a 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet “uplink” interface plus four 10/100BASE-T Ethernet “downlink” interfaces for wired devices and operates from standard 802.3af power-over-Ethernet (PoE) sources or a 12-volt DC power supply.

The PowerConnect W-Series Airwave Wireless Management Suite™ (AWMS) is an optional multivendor management tool that efficiently supports mobile users who connect via the wireless LAN as well as wired Ethernet ports. With its easy-to-use interface and user-centric approach, it lets your service desk triage connectivity issues while your valuable network engineering staff focuses on proactive work to optimize the network

State-of-the-art radio frequency (RF) management

The key to ensuring wire-like performance and reliability is the PowerConnect W-Series unique Adaptive Radio Management and spectrum analysis capabilities, which manage both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz radio bands to help deliver maximum client performance while mitigating any RF interference.

Key ARM features:
  • Spectrum load balancing uniformly distributes clients across channels in high-density environments served by multiple access points.
  • Noise awareness dynamically moves clients away from channels beset by outside interference.
  • Band-steering (dual-radio APs only) dynamically moves clients away from the crowded 2.4GHz band and enables user-defined ratios of clients across bands.
  • Airtime fairness delivers equal airtime access to all WiFi clients, regardless of client type, wireless chip or operating system.

HD video and toll-quality voice

Experience high-definition quality video and toll-quality voice across the wireless infrastructure with PowerConnect W-Series access points and centralized controllers.

Key voice and video features:
  • ARM technology helps maximize wireless client performance.
  • RF fingerprinting technology helps ensure highly reliable and high-quality voice-over-WiFi communications without disabling automated channel management.
