VERITAS Backup Exec Small Business Server (SBS) Suite

The VERITAS Backup Exec SBS Suite is designed to backup a server running Microsoft® Windows Small Business Server only. The SBS suite enables a server to be recovered to the most recent full, incremental, or differential backup. A 'Bare metal' disaster recovery option for SBS helps to minimize recovery times by restoring a server from a few floppies, a CD-RW or bootable tape. A single PowerVault tape drive is supported. Finally, up to 75 desktops and/or notebooks can be protected easily using the Backup Exec Desktop/Laptop Option (DLO).
Target environment: Small networks or workgroups. Specially tailored for Microsoft Windows SBS 2003.

The VERITAS Backup Exec Server Suite allows data to be backed up offline, where a "backup window" is available. This suite is designed to backup a server running Microsoft® Windows, Novell® NetWare® or Linux® . The server suite also enables a server to be recovered to the most recent full, incremental, or differential backup. 'Bare metal' disaster recovery options for Windows and NetWare help to minimize recovery times by restoring a server from a few floppies, a CD-RW or bootable tape. A limited number of Dell SCSI tape drives and autoloaders are supported.
Target environment: Small to medium sized networks or workgroups. Ideally suited for a customer who requires high availability and a quick and easy restore/recovery process in the event of failure.

The VERITAS Backup Exec Server Pro Suite adds to the Server Suite performance enhancements for multi-drive tape library environments. RAID striping and mirroring is available for tape devices on Windows and NetWare platforms. This suite also adds support for unlimited tape drives, autoloaders, and libraries.
Target environment: medium to large enterprise. Ideally suited for a customer who requires high availability and a quick and easy restore/recovery process in the event of failure, needs increased backup performance and has or is planning to install a multi-drive tape library.
The VERITAS Backup Exec Server Pro Suite is comprised of the following:
- Backup Exec for Windows

The VERITAS Backup Exec SAN Suite incorporates the data protection options necessary to backup and restore data in a SAN environment. Data that is shared on a disk array is protected on one or many shared tape libraries. 'Bare metal' disaster recovery options for Windows and NetWare help to minimize recovery times by restoring a server from a few floppies, a CD-RW or boot tape. NOTE: The SAN Suite is required for each server connected to the SAN.

VERITAS Backup Exec Online Backup Pack
- Enables backups to occur transparently to users while files and applications are in use

The VERITAS Backup Exec Online Backup Pack is designed to offer transparent data protection where a "backup window" is not available. Transparent backups provide point-in-time capability that enables data to be backed up while the applications remain online. The Online Backup Pack is an optional core suite add-on, licensed for each server needing open file and application database protection. License includes support for two messaging, database and/or open file agents on a single server.
Target environment: Customers running Exchange, SQL, Oracle or Notes/Domino databases and needs uninterrupted protection 24-hours a day.
The VERITAS Backup Exec Online Backup Pack is comprised of the following:
- Backup Exec for Windows Microsoft SQL Agent
Protects SQL v200, v6.5 and v7.x individual table/file groups or complete databases while on-line
- Backup Exec for Windows Microsoft Exchange Agent Protects Exchange server database or individual mailbox while on-line

The VERITAS Backup Exec Remote Server Pack enables additional remote servers to backup data to a primary master server running one of the Server, Server Pro or SAN core suites. The Remote Server Pack is an optional core suite add-on, licensed for each remote server on the network that needs to be backed up. Additional components extend support for disaster recovery and backing up desktops and/or laptops.
Target environment: Recommended for users that need to backup remote servers to help optimize backup performance and enable cross-platform backup to a primary master server.
NOTE: VERITAS Backup Exec for Windows requires one agent for each additional remote server. VERITAS Backup Exec for NetWare does not require a Remote Server Pack.
The VERITAS Backup Exec Remote Server Pack is comprised of the following (choose up to two options):
- Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows - Allows a remote Windows server to be backed up to master backup server
